Connecting the World of Endoscopy
From September 24 to 26, the 5th World Congress of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, ENDO 2026, was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in Cape Town, South Africa. With the theme “Connecting the World of Endoscopy,” the congress was jointly hosted by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), the Association of Surgeons of South Africa (ASSA), the South African Gastroenterology Society (SAGES), and the South African Society of Endoscopic Surgeons (SASES). Daichuan Medical’s EndoFresh® single-use endoscope also joined global industry peers at the event to explore and exchange insights on the latest advances and future directions in digestive endoscopic diagnosis and treatment.

【Resonance of Needs】
From China to South Africa, Connecting Real Clinical Needs
The hosting of ENDO 2026 in South Africa was not only an international academic event, but also gave the theme “Connecting the World of Endoscopy” a more practical and meaningful expression.

Professor Lars Aabakken, President of the WEO, noted that he “hopes to further focus on the wider accessibility of gastrointestinal endoscopy, especially the needs of underserved regions including sub-Saharan Africa.” In areas where local medical resources are relatively limited, digestive endoscopy services still face challenges such as **limited equipment allocation, large service radiuses for examinations, and high costs for building reprocessing systems. These conditions also place higher demands on bedside care, emergency care, mobile diagnosis and treatment, and high-risk infectious disease scenarios.
How to make endoscopic diagnosis and treatment reach the clinical frontline in a safer and more convenient way is exactly the direction that EndoFresh® has long been exploring.
【Medical Aid Project in Africa】
A New Sterile Pathway Starting from Livingstone
A New Sterile Pathway Starting from Livingstone
The implementation of this concept comes from in-depth practice. During the assistance work related to the 26th Chinese Medical Team to Zambia in 2025, the EndoFresh® single-use digestive endoscope was implemented at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital and was selected for the *China-Africa Hospital Joint Development Outstanding Case Collection*, strongly validating the clinical value of this innovative solution in complex resource environments:
Strict Infection Control from the Source: Using ethylene oxide sterilization and individual sterile packaging, it is ready to use upon opening, requires no complex reprocessing or turnover waiting time, and eliminates the hidden risk of cross-infection.

Rapid Deployment and Flexible Expansion: It eliminates dependence on large reprocessing equipment, dedicated sites, and complicated procedures, significantly lowering the threshold for clinical introduction and making it better suited to primary care, emergency rescue, and mobile diagnosis and treatment scenarios.

From clinical practice in medical aid to Africa to the international exchange platform of ENDO 2026, EndoFresh® is not only an innovative product, but also a complete solution for different medical resource conditions and diagnosis and treatment scenarios. During the exhibition, EndoFresh®’s advantages of lightweight sterility and flexible deployment also attracted the attention and hands-on experience of many attending experts.

【Mid-Autumn Full Moon】
As the Bright Moon Rises Over the Sea, We Share This Moment Across the World
September 25, the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, coincided with China’s traditional Mid-Autumn Festival. On this day symbolizing reunion, EndoFresh® gathered with global endoscopy peers in Cape Town and brought an innovative solution from China to broader clinical settings. May the bright moon shine upon reunion, and also illuminate the meaning behind every journey.
