On February 13, the 3rd Public Open Day of the Digestive Endoscopy Center at Qilu Hospital of Shandong University was successfully held. Nearly 40 teenagers and their parents stepped into the intelligent endoscopy center and embarked on a unique “microscopic journey through the digestive tract” through guided tours, lectures, and immersive experiences—gaining a close-up understanding of the power of modern gastrointestinal endoscopy technology.

01 Turning “Fear” into “Curiosity”: Unlocking the Mysteries of Medicine
From guidance robots to fully automated reprocessing systems, from high-definition endoscopes to ERCP equipment, doctors explained and demonstrated each technology in detail. During the lecture, as the “journey of food digestion” was vividly illustrated, the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine were no longer just textbook terms, but visible anatomical structures displayed on the screen.
In front of the gastrointestinal model, as the endoscope advanced slowly, clear mucosal textures appeared on the large display screen. One child whispered, “It feels like playing an adventure game inside the human body.” At that moment, medicine was no longer mysterious, and endoscopy was no longer frightening.
02 Innovating with Single-Use Technology, Bringing Warmth to Public Education
During the interactive session, our single-use gastrointestinal endoscopes were demonstrated alongside high-fidelity anatomical models. The concept of “ready to use upon opening, single use after procedure” resonated with parents, while children were able to observe and even try operating the device up close.
Under doctors’ guidance, many children touched an endoscope control handle for the first time. As they carefully maneuvered the controls and observed the monitor, what they experienced was not only technological precision, but also the rigor and protection behind medical practice.
